Amtrol's Therm-X-Trol expansion tanks are water heater expansion tanks, used in domestic hot water heating systems.
Every time the water temperature in a water heater increases, a thermal expansion occurs. To absorb the expanded water and keep the system pressure at a safe level a Therm-X-Trol water heater expansion tank needs to be installed.

Q: Do i really need a water heater expansion tank?
A: A water heater expansion tank is needed if a check valve, pressure reducing valve or a backflow preventer is installed in the domestic water system.
