2ft long Heat Transfer Plates are manufactured from stamped aluminum and are 5" wide. Nominal thickness of these plates is 0.019". Compatible with 1/2" PEX tubing (5/8" OD).
Can be used for subfloor or sandwich type radiant heating installations to improve heat transfer properties of the system and lower the water supply temperature, thus reducing the heating bills. Recommended spacing for parallel tubing runs is 8" OC. Edges of the plates should not touch each other or intersect. Best price I could find online
Review for: 2ft long ea, 1/2" PEX Aluminum Heat Transfer Plates (100/box)
There was no place local that had these in stock & after shopping around online, PEX Universe was by far the cheapest. These plates have clean edges but they're still stamped aluminum so do be careful when installing. The omega shaping is great for getting a good bite around the tubing for good thermal conductivity. I'm running a bead of 100% silicone before putting the tubing in to provide even better thermal transfer & to eliminate any noises caused by aluminum & polyethylene expanding & contracting at differing rates. I'm also putting a thin layer of silicone on the top side of the plates that touch the underside of the subfloor for the same reasons. You can buy heavier gauge aluminum plates but they are far more expensive & from what I've researched don't do all that much better than the thin ones like these.
I LIKED IT

Review for: 2ft long ea, 1/2" PEX Aluminum Heat Transfer Plates (100/box)
"I am using this for a ""sandwich"" radiant floor install, where the plates are installed above my subfloor with 3/4in boards filling in between the plates, and then hardwood flooring will go over the top.
The Omega shaped groove is important, and the 1/2in pex snapped in to these plates as expected.
These plates are thin aluminum, compared to others that I found available, but my research indicates that there is only a little gain in performance, for considerable added cost, when considering heavier gage plates, so I am confident that this is an adequate and cost effective option.
I will be ordering these for the remainder of the installation."
