Grundfos Deep Well Pumps (submersible)

For the most advanced and reliable water well pumps on the market, choose SQ, SQE or S series Grundfos Well Pumps. Packed with features such as advanced electronics for dry-run and overload protection, tough design with tungsten carbide/ceramic bearings and composite parts, reliable built-in check valve and many others, Grundfos Well Pumps are the best choice for a wide range of applications from domestic water supply and light commercial uses, to irrigation and tank applications.
Grundfos SQ series Well Pumps - 3" pump for 3" or larger water wells, 2-wire, single phase, fixed speed and high performance design. Sufficient for majority of traditional systems such as water supply, irrigation and pressure boosting. Fully submersible.
Grundfos SQE series Well Pumps - all the features of SQ series plus constant pressure control, variable speed design (for flow regulation) and electronic control and interface through the use of CU301 module.
Grundfos S series Well Pumps - similar in features to SQ pump, but is 4" or larger diameter pump for 4" or larger wells and has a motor which is replaceable. S series well pumps can also be modified to increase # of stages to increase the pumps' head parameters.

SQ, SQE or S series?
SQ series Grundfos Well Pumps:
The SQ series water well pumps are designed for traditional 3" or larger well installation utilizing a well tank, such as Amtrol's Well-X-Trol and a regular pressure switch such as 40/60 psi. The tank is used to store water at designated pressure and once the water tap is opened, will discharge the water into the system. After the water in the tank depletes and system pressure drops below set point, the deep well pump activates. Such installations are very common, but often faced with problem of noticeable fluctuating pressure and water hammer effect, as the pump operates at a single speed. Additionally, the well tank often takes up a lot of space and is very costly to replace.

SQE series Grundfos Well Pumps and Systems:
Without the CU301 control and pressure switch, the SQE series well pump will operate as a regular single-speed well pump (SQ). The SQE system packages contain the CU301 control module and pressure switch, allowing to install the pump to utilize the constant pressure features. A 2 or 4 gallon well tank is needed for the system and is not included in the package supplied by Grundfos, but can be purchased separately from Expansion Tanks category under Well Tanks.
The major advantage of SQE system over SQ and other regular well pumps is it's ability to maintain constant water pressure regardless of the water demand (equal or less than pump's rated maximum GPM). So whether using a single faucet, or multiple fixtures at the same time, the system will maintain constant pressure.
With regular water well pumps, such as SQ, regardless of the water demand, the pump will operate at it's maximum speed and will turn on/off frequently and consume more energy. SQE series Grundfos well pumps adjust the speed to the water demand, thus consuming the optimal amount of energy without putting excessive pressure on the pump.

S Series Grundfos Well Pumps:
Since S series Grundfos well pumps have 4" or larger diameter, they cannot be used in 3" wells as the SQ models. The S series pumps are also available with higher operating head than the SQ and SQE series well pumps and would be more suitable for applications with high head (very deep wells or long pipe runs) or requiring higher flow rates.

Is 3" sufficient?
Grundfos designed the 3" SQ series well pumps to outmatch and outperform the 4" pumps from leading competitors. In other words, it is a better pump in a smaller package. Better materials, built-in check valve, advanced electronics and much more make SQ and SQE series Grundfos water well pumps second to none in quality and performance.
