PEX Tools & Rings
This section features tools commonly used in installation of PEX tubing for plumbing applications. Among these are Crimp Tools (also called Crimper or Crimping Tools) with Copper Crimp Rings and Clamp Tools (also called Cinch or Pinch Tools) with Stainless Steel PEX Clamps.
Crimp tools come in 6 standard sizes corresponding to pipe sizes: 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 1" and 1-1/4". Each tools works for a designated size pipe, fittings and crimp rings and cannot be used with another diameter pipe. Crimp tools are available as Kits with replaceable tool jaws and as one-size tools.
Clamp tool is a ratchet type PEX tool which works universally for all 5 major sizes of tubing from 3/8" to 1" and is used together with proper size stainless steel clamps (a.k.a. cinch clamps) and proper size PEX fittings. Unlike crimp tools, a clamp/cinch tool does not require calibration, but lacks the ability to check the connections for accuracy.
PEX cutters are used to cut off the necessary length of tubing. Generally available in standard and ratchet type models, with later being better suited to frequent use and larger tubing diameters.
