Little Giant 6-CIA (506158) is an Automatic Submersible Sump Pump (Big John series) with a powerful 1/3HP motor (oil-lubricated for life), a 10-foot long power cord and a diaphragm pressure switch which engages the pump at 7" to 10" water level and turns it off at 1" to 4" of water. The Little Giant 506158 model is among the Little Giant's most popular sump pump models and is well suited for extended or continuous use in moving large volumes of water. All 6-CIA models, including this one has a 1-1/2" FNPT discharge, 1-1/4" reducing bushing for connection to smaller diameter discharge pipe and an optional 3/4" regular garden hose adapter. Little Giant 506158 model has a polycarbonate cover, a polypropylene volute/base, cast iron housing, stainless steel components for enhanced corrosion resistance and built-in thermal overload protection. 6-CIA series sump pumps are best suited for residential and light commercial use.

Review for: Little Giant 6-CIA (506158) Automatic Submersible Sump Pump, 115V, 1/3HP, 10' cord
I'm replacing mine today after 12 years (original builder install) and not because it isn't still working, but because I can't believe it's still working. This is a preventative replacement because most of what I have read says they generally should be replaced by now. Great product that did its job and then some.
Excellent reliable product.

Review for: Little Giant 6-CIA (506158) Automatic Submersible Sump Pump, 115V, 1/3HP, 10' cord
This is a great sump pump, it is ideal for smaller sump wells, where there is not enough room for a float.
Have not used it. It is my spare pump.

I'll keep it for a spare.
Is there a problem with having 4-7" of standing water consistently? We would like to use this to drain a dehumidifier into a basin to keep a basement (and lots of expensive electronic equipment) dry, and are concerned that standing water would create too much humidity. Thank you

Since there are many considerations to take into account, it's best to drain the condensate directly into the sewer line rather then a sump pit. Look up and compare different condensate removal pump specs to see which one has appropriate head and flow parameters to be able to discharge the condensate at the level of the sewage pipe. Be sure to get a pump with a built-in check valve - it will prevent the backflow and unnecessary cycling of the condensate pump.
As for having 4-7" of standing water - it's acceptable for the pump and as long as you have the sump basin sealed with a cover and a separate vent line - this will prevent moisture in the basement. Answered on 5/20/2013 by PexUniverse Customer Service
