1/2" PEX-A Tubing with Oxygen Barrier is the most common size for all radiant floor heating applications due to it's flexibility, light weight and ability to deliver substantial amounts of heat. According to RPA Standard Guidelines, recommended circuit length for 1/2" PEX tubing is 250-350ft, depending on the application and type of installation.
For snow melt applications, use larger tubing sizes, such as 5/8" and 3/4".

Applications:
  • Closed loop radiant floor heating or snow melting (embedded in concrete, stapled to a wooden subfloor or in combination with modular board systems)
  • Hydronic heating systems - copper finned baseboards (Slant-Fin, Argo, Embassy, etc.), radiators (cast iron and european style), fan coils

Features:
  • Kinks can be repaired with a heat gun
  • Softer and easier to work with than PEX-b tubing
  • Higher flow rates and lower pressure drop when used with expansion style fittings (instead of crimp fittings)
